About our clinic
We want you and your family to feel comfortable at Bupa Dental Kawana. That's why we've made our dental clinic a warm and relaxing place to be, while we help you to look after your oral health.
When you come in for your appointment, you'll have the full attention of our experienced dentists. Most of our team have been with us for years, and we always love to meet new patients and catch up with familiar faces.
During your regular check-up, we'll carry out a full oral health assessment to check that your teeth and gums are as healthy as can be. If we find any problems, we'll explain all the treatment options available and offer advice about how to improve your oral hygiene.
If you do need
We're easy to find, with free on-site parking with no time limit and a bus stop right in front of our clinic. Stop by Bupa Dental Kawana any weekday to meet our team or get in touch to book an appointment.
Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.

Dentists
Dr Julian Leigh

Dr Julian Leigh
Our principal dentist, Dr Julian Leigh is an experienced practitioner and an accomplished leader. Dentistry is a tradition in his family (he’s a fourth-generation dentist!) but changing people’s lives for the better was what ultimately attracted Dr Leigh to his profession. Recognising that each patient is unique, he cites the variety of people’s needs as one of the most fascinating parts of his job.
Dr Leigh has a special interest in oral surgery, wisdom teeth, dental implants and complex treatment needs. He is committed to continued learning and keeps up with the latest dental developments, techniques and technology. He is a member of the Australian Dental Association and the Australian Society of Implant Dentistry.
Dr Leigh has always stressed the importance of preventive care, noting that, “We can certainly help you, but your future dental needs depend heavily on your own efforts at home.” As a result, our clinic has a strong focus on helping you understand the best ways to care for your teeth and gums at home and lower your risk of needing more intensive dental care later on.
“Dentist” isn’t the only title on Dr Leigh’s CV - he’s also a farmer and auxiliary firefighter. For fun, he enjoys trail bike riding and restoring old cars.
Dr Stephen Cook

Dr Stephen Cook
Known for his relaxed chairside manner and his technical skill, Dr Stephen Cook is an experienced dentist and Brisbane native. He earned his qualifications from the University of Queensland before going on to work rurally for several years. There, he built a strong background in general, cosmetic and family dentistry.
Dr Cook has a special interest in fixed prosthetic dentistry (meaning dental crowns, bridges and implants) and preventive dentistry.
When he’s not in the clinic, Dr Cook enjoys kitesurfing, hiking, motorbiking and even the odd triathlon – virtually anything that gets him outside!
Dr Jill Armour

Dr Jill Armour
After earning her Bachelor of Dental Surgery at Dundee University in 1999, Dr Jill Amour began a dental career that spans more than a decade. She is known for her ability to put patients at ease – in fact, helping people overcome a fear of the dentist was one of her biggest incentives for entering the field in the first place.
Dr Armour has a special interest in restorative dentistry and enjoys helping people repair the look and function of their smiles. Still, her main focus is almost always prevention, noting that, “Prevention is so important. Regular check-ups and early detection of decay, gum disease and oral cancers can make dental visits easier in the long term.”
Outside of work, Dr Armour enjoys trail running and spending time with her family.
Dr Callum Ellis

Dr Callum Ellis
In 1999, Dr Callum Ellis earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the Dundee Dental School in Scotland. He then became a member of the Fellowship of Dental Surgeons of Edinburgh. He went on to travel and work all across Australia with his wife before they settled on the Sunshine Coast.
Dr Ellis is interested in all types of restorative dentistry, such as dental crowns, veneers and more. He’s equally passionate about preventive care and has said the ability to help people was his main motivation for becoming a dentist.
When he’s not working in the clinic, Dr Ellis enjoys running, surfing and spending time with his wife and three boys.
Dr Luke Newman

Dr Luke Newman
Dentistry has allowed Dr Luke Newman to combine three of his biggest interests: working with his hands, medical science and helping others. Known for his caring and laidback nature, Dr Newman explains that a passion for people fuels his love of dentistry: “[My favourite part is] having the opportunity to help people in need, whether that be through helping relieve pain or improving their oral health.”
Dr Newman earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Queensland before earning a Doctor of Dental Medicine (with distinction) from the University of Western Australia. He enjoys and has experience in the full gamut of general dentistry, from preventive care all the way to oral surgery. He is a member of the Australian Dental Association and the International Association of Dental Research.
In his free time, he enjoys pretty much any type of adventure, including hiking, cycling, camping and travelling. He also enjoys sport, particularly rugby, cricket and boxing.
Dr Craig Gibson

Dr Craig Gibson
Dr Craig Gibson acquired his Bachelor of Dentistry from Dundee, Scotland in 1998. He was a partner in a busy private practice in Northern Ireland for 10 years and has over 20 years of experience in general practice both in the UK and Australia.
Dr Craig enjoys the variety that general practice offers and is passionate about providing quality family dentistry. Dr Craig’s main field of interest is restorative and cosmetic dentistry. Throughout his career Dr Craig has placed great importance in continued education, ensuring he keeps up to date with modern techniques and materials. He recently completed a 12-month course on advanced restoration and cosmetic dentistry and can’t wait to see what the future holds for dentistry.
Dr Craig loves spending time with his wife and two girls. He is a keen surfer, doing most of his surfing in the UK and is really enjoying the warmer water and the beautiful beaches of the Sunshine Coast!
Dr Chris Galvin

Dr Chris Galvin
Chris grew up in Maroochydore and after several years of travelling decided to return permanently to the Sunshine Coast with his wife and children to enjoy the great lifestyle it offers. Chris is dedicated to providing care to his patients while prioritising their comfort and peace of mind. He believes in involving patients in all their treatment decisions.
