Dr Rishi's rural and public sector clinical experience, including a placement in Warwick, Queensland, has exposed him to patients who don't always present with textbook problems. This has taught him that dentistry is about more than performing procedures, and requires working within financial and access limitations, patient anxiety, differing health literacy, complex medical and dental histories, and competing treatment priorities, including patients who have delayed treatment for years. Working across different clinical environments, rather than just one style of dentistry, has reinforced this further.
Dr Rishi was inspired to pursue dentistry after seeing the positive impact a warm and supportive dentist can have on a patient's experience. He finds it rewarding to combine problem-solving with helping people and values the trust patients place in him.
Dr Rishi is calming and genuine and takes the time to listen to his patients and understand not only their dental concerns, but their expectations, anxieties and individual circumstances. He aims to create a calm and supportive environment, particularly for patients who may be nervous or have had difficult experiences with dentistry, and believes patients make better decisions when they understand their oral health and treatment options. He takes care to explain his findings and treatment plans clearly, so patients never feel rushed through their care.
