Meet our staff Dr Tharani Kamalasuriya graduated from the University of Sydney in 2018 with Doctor of Dental Medicine. She is a member of the ADA and ADA NSW. Tharani is passionate about/interested in restorative dentistry and minor oral surgery and she has a caring and informative approach to every patient. Tharani wanted to be in the healthcare field from a young age due to having family members in the field. Tharani chose dentistry because of the difference you can make in someone’s life while still having a good work-life balance. She is passionate about caring for people and really understanding a person in order to provide holistic dental care. Tharani’s favourite part of working in the dental industry is being able to interact with and provide treatment to people from all walks of life. She also enjoys being able to combine the science and art in dentistry in order to achieve a patient’s goal. She is passionate about integrating the care of the patient’s mouth and smile with their general wellbeing. In her spare time, Tharani likes to catch up with her friends and enjoys reading. Outside of work, you’ll find Tharani staying active and going to the gym. Dr Pooja Shah was born and raised in Sydney and graduated from Griffith University in Queensland, with a Graduate Diploma of Dentistry in 2013 Pooja has a special interest in Invisalign and cosmetic dentistry. She completed her accreditation for Invisalign in 2014 and has substantial experience in children’s dentistry as well as restorative dentistry. She has worked in both private and public practices and brings vast experience into the clinic. She enjoys teaching and has worked as a tutor for Sydney university dental students. Pooja finds dentistry extremely rewarding and satisfying. She enjoys helping patients to relieve their pain, improve their smiles and make a difference. She aims to provide a positive experience for her patients with her calm, gentle and caring personality. In her spare time, Pooja enjoys reading, travelling and spending time with her family, especially with her new dog Peanut. Originally from Hong Kong, Dr Jonathan Chu grew up in New Zealand. It is in New Zealand where Jonathan went to dental school graduating with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery with Honours from the University of Otago in 2016. After graduation, Jonathan worked as a House Officer for the Department of Dental and Oral Maxillofacial Surgery in Dunedin Public Hospital and the University of Otago School of Dentistry from 2017-2018. Jonathan is a member of the New Zealand dental association (NZDA) and Australian dental association (ADA). Throughout Jonathan’s time working in the Hospital and private practices, he has developed a special interest in restorative dentistry, root canal therapy and oral surgery including surgical extractions of impacted wisdom teeth. Jonathan chose to work in dentistry as, throughout his childhood, he had always had a passion for sculpture and modelling. As he was finishing school, Jonathan developed an interest in the medical sciences and wanted to pursue a career which enabled him to help and to improve the lives of others. Dentistry enabled him to pursue this by combining his interests and passion to serve the community. Jonathan’s favourite part about working in the dental industry is he firmly believes that being able to smile confidently makes a huge difference in someone’s life and self-confidence. Working in the dental field enables Jonathan to directly make a difference in people’s lives by creating and maintaining the best smile for every patient. Jonathan is a firm believer in prevention of dental disease. He believes that education is key in patient care. Helping the patient to understand the process of decay, modes of intervention and preventative measures are vital goals towards a healthy and beautiful smile. In his spare time, Jonathan is an avid musician and enjoy playing the piano and clarinet. Outside of work, Jonathan likes spending his spare time in the kitchen and trying new recipes and keeping his family and friends well fed. Additionally, Jonathan loves travelling and discovering new places. He has a keen interest in volunteer work, regularly going overseas to provide dental services to rural villages in Thailand, Cambodia, and Vanuatu. Dr. Evita Ying-Ju Chen has always dreamed of becoming a medical practitioner to help people in need. She has been providing dental services since 2007 when she received her Doctor of Dental Science from the National Yang-Ming University. Dr. Chen has worked in various aspects of dentistry during training but thoroughly enjoys crown, bridge and surgical extractions.

Dr. Chen’s favourite part of her job is meeting new people, building relationships and helping patients understand the importance of dental health. Dr. Chen is known in the workplace for her teamwork and great listening skills, she finds these qualities to be very important in dentistry and enjoys being personable with her patients. When not tending to patients, Dr. Chen enjoys spending time with her family and cooking up a great feed for them. Dr. Chen lives locally, and her favourite thing about the area is the natural environment and parks.
A native Persian-Farsi speaker, Dr Mehrnoosh Rostampour started her life and career in Iran. Now based in Australia, she enjoys carrying out root canal treatments to help patients with their oral health, and working in cosmetic dentistry to help patients smile with confidence.

Mehrnoosh previously worked as a dental professor, and is passionate about sharing her knowledge with her patients, colleagues, and the wider industry. Her goal is that all her patients understand the important links between their oral health and general health. Mehrnoosh is naturally empathetic, and always aims for her patients to feel heard. With her kind-hearted nature, she likes helping kids and adults alike feel at ease in her care.

In her own time, Mehrnoosh loves learning about archaeology, and likes to unwind by writing, getting out into nature whenever she can, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr Elnaz Bayat received her Doctor of Dental Science from Azad University of Tehran in 2012. After a few years practising general dentistry in Iran, Elnaz made the move to Australia in 2016, receiving her ADC (Australian Dental Council) qualification in 2017. Elnaz wanted to work in dentistry due to its interactive and hands-on nature, and her attention to detail had led her to take a special interest in restorative and cosmetic dentistry. As a dentist Dr Bayat particularly enjoys the opportunity to meet new people, build trusting relationships and provide patient-focused care. Her aim is to help patients understand the importance of good oral health. She is committed to continued education so that she can offer the best possible level of care. Outside of work, you’ll find Elnaz playing tennis, cycling, practising yoga and spending time with family and friends. Dr Carlos Turk was born and raised in Sydney. He obtained his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Sydney in 1995. Since then, he has worked in private practice in Sydney gaining as much experience as possible. He left Australia in 2003 to see what else was out there; unsurprisingly, there was a lot more to the world than suburban Sydney. Eventually settling in the UK, he worked in private practice in the Midlands, Kent and Hertfordshire. He has done numerous courses in all aspects of general dentistry including a one-year course in Dental Implants in London and pursues professional development to update his knowledge by attending as many courses as possible. Dr Carlos has over 25 years of general dental experience. He is a very compassionate and empathetic person who is aware of patients’ anxieties when coming in for dental treatment. Patient comfort, communication, and presenting different treatment plans to suit patients’ needs are his top priorities. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, as well as playing tennis. Miss Seung Joo (Erika) Yi is a compassionate and experienced Oral Health Therapist with 5 years of experience. She is fluent in Korean and has a strong interest in helping patients understand the importance of hygiene and gum health.

Erika's experience includes volunteer work, specialist periodontist, and Invisalign clinic. She enjoys the systematic yet unique nature of each procedure and values teamwork with patients to achieve better treatment outcomes.

Erika is a good listener, calming, caring, and communicative, with a gentle and empathetic approach. She is great with kids and informative, with a kind-hearted and relaxed demeanour. Outside of work, she enjoys aerial yoga, Pilates, ballet, cooking, painting, and coffee.

As an Oral Health Therapist, Erika prioritizes patient comfort and control, taking the time to explain treatment options and involving patients in their care. She is dedicated to providing personalized and gentle care, making patients feel safe and informed throughout their treatment journey.
